PEMBROKE LIVE!
Deandre Hampton, a student at Lorenzo R. Smith School in Pembroke, Ill., was among nearly two dozen students who participated this summer in the iWriteADream journalism camp created by John W. Fountain, a former New York Times national correspondent and currently a journalism professor at Roosevelt University in Chicago. He and his wife Monica Fountain, a former Chicago Tribune reporter, head the journalism program. The students call their body of work (photographs, stories and poetic essays) produced in the workshop and presented here: Pembroke Live!
About the Founder/Director
In a journalism career that has spanned 20 years, Fountain has been a reporter at some of the country's top newspapers. From 2000 to 2003, he was a national correspondent for The New York Times. He also has been a staff writer at the Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune. He is currently a professor of journalism at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
About the Assistant Director
Monica Fountain is a former reporter for the Chicago Tribune. Her work has appeared in national publications, including the Style section of the Washington Post, the Womanews section of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, Black MBA Magazine and Black Enterprise.
